Merge by Distance

Welds vertices that lie within a threshold distance of each other — the cleanup pass that closes seams left behind by a scatter or conversion node, or, cranked up, collapses geometry together outright.

The Merge by Distance node in Infinite, showing its inputs, controls and outputs.

What it does

Merge by Distance is a 3D node: it builds, changes or lights geometry that Render 3D turns into a picture. It takes 3D shape in and gives 3D shape out.

Try it

Run Points to Vertices output through Merge by Distance with a larger threshold to fuse nearby particles into solid clumps.

Inputs and outputs

Inputs

  • 3D shape geo

Outputs

  • 3D shape out

Controls

Every control with a range can be driven by a modulator, a note, an audio level or a sketch.
